Canada was quick to repeat the line from Israel/US that Israel did not bomb the al-Ahli hospital, claiming to have "independent" analysis, but they still refuse to release their data. How many hospitals has Israel bombed in the subsequent 11 months?

Hi Halifax, I'll be at Saint Mary's University on September 23 to talk about the opposition to BDS from South Africa to Israel

It is encouraging to see candidates align themselves with the Palestine solidarity movement and against genocide. As CJPME’s Michael Bueckert told CBC, Craig Sauvé’s campaign is a sign that politicians are starting to see supporting Palestine as an electoral benefit, not a liability.

Just now, Canada’s foreign minister Mélanie Joly claims to have suspended ~30 existing arms permits to Israel over the summer, and says her government is opposed to the US plan to send 50,000 Quebec-made mortars to Israel. To avert Canada's complicit in genocide, we need to see

Check out CJPME quoted on Democracy Now! about Canada's suspension of 30 weapons export permits to Israel. We should accept no more weapons to Israel, period. Mélanie Joly must impose a two-way arms embargo on Israel now. democracynow.org/2024/9/11/head…

Canada is warning its citizens travelling to the West Bank not to share their political opinions online or else they and their family members could be arrested by Israel. CJPME told Radio-Canada that this reflects the reality of Israeli apartheid. ici.radio-canada.ca/nouvelle/21033…

Thanks to Rania Massoud for covering this important story (in French). The Canadian govt is very aware of Israel's racial profiling practices, to the point that it feels obliged to warn its own citizens. So why continue to refuse to call it apartheid? ici.radio-canada.ca/nouvelle/21033…

❗️Canada is asking General Dynamics to apply for a permit to ship mortars to the IDF via the US, which it usually doesn’t need. Given Joly’s ‘pause’ on military export approvals to Israel, the implication seems to be that this deal is dead (at least for now).

BREAKING: Canada ABSTAINED on a UN resolution affirming the ICJ advisory opinion and demanding that Israel ends its unlawful presence in the occupied Palestinian territories. A cowardly refusal to stand up for international law and Palestinian freedom. It was adopted 124-14.

Bob Rae says Canada couldn't support the UN resolution because it "contains language that aligns with boycott, divestment, sanctions, which Canada firmly opposes." A good way to signal that this government will never take any meaningful action to end Israeli impunity.
