Where are we with drug-coated balloons (DCB) in PCI? Five thoughts. 1) The use of DCB in patients with in-stent restenosis, especially of a bare metal stent, is well established and evidence-based (now also in the US). 2) Conversely, DCB use in de novo disease lacks compelling

Every now and then there is a device in interventional cardiology that becomes adopted at a bewildering speed - DES and IVL are two examples, availability of evidence came much later than widespread acceptance. What a difference with intracoronary imaging! Makes you think 🤔!

👉#IVL in concentric Ca showed greater fracture but no difference in stent expansion by #OCT compared w eccentric 👉In calcified nodules dissection was frequent but expansion >100% at nodule site 👉 10.4244/EIJ-D-23-00605 Nieves Gonzalo Javier Escaned EuroIntervention PCRonline 🫀

You need to be Bond to do it w/o causing harm (MI, repeat revasc)? What were the consequences of NOT performing revascularisation in FAME II / ISCHEMIA? Please share views!
