The cure for exhaustion is removing overwhelming demands and the norm of self-sacrifice.

My office is full of people like Dr Candia-Bailey.

There is such hopelessness in toxic work environments&yet as a culture we often blame the person affected—or dismiss their cries for help or mental health repercussions.

This needs to change. Now. Not later.

If we mistreat & dehumanize young doctors--essentially teaching them that human life is not of value--they may learn to dehumanize patients.

Not only do our patients deserve our respect and kindness, so do our learners: our students, residents, and fellows.

I just met a new patient. Her family present. “Where are you from”, they asked. “Palestine”, I said. “We are First Nations. They did to us what they are doing to your ppl. We are with you, indigenous to indigenous”, they wept and embraced me. I was the ‘doc’, but they healed me.
