August was, overall, a rainy month, thanks in large part to Debby. After a hot and mainly sunny Sunday, September 1, Labor Day will have another spike in shower and storm chances. I wouldn't give up on plans, but I would have a backup!

The National Hurricane Center's latest development outlook is... Septembery... but there no active storms and no definable Carolina threats so those are Ws!

With a front settling in, showers and storms are a better bet this Labor Day than the first couple days of the holiday weekend. Keep your plans and have a good backup.

Not as clean a holiday radar as you'd like to see it, but, still, the whole day shouldn't be a throwaway...

Some of this is a cold front switching winds up and some of it is rain cooling. Either way, if you're not a fan of the heat, you'll take it!

A drier feel across the Cape Fear Region and Carolinas this morning...

We'll keep these vibes for much of the rest of the week, too.

Most of the Cape Fear Region received at least some rain with a passing Labor Day cold front. A few spots, including Southport, registered a couple of inches of it.

Drier air will support lower rain odds through midweek if not longer. The highest percentages will come when the recently passed front creeps back; even still, I envision a lot of dry time.

Fewer lifeguards on duty these days... Take care!

Brisk breezes flowing down the Brunswick this Wednesday. If you were happy with yesterday's weather, you oughta like today's and tomorrow's.

Feel summer slippin' a bit? For the rest of this week, we're targeting temps a little below what you'd call average for this point in September. For perspective: records include Wilmington's highest September reading ever, achieved 99 years ago, and a couple from last year.

Atlantic tropical activity is sputtering and, locally, the muggy meter echoes that. Enjoy comfy dew points for the rest of this week and reinforcements next week! The stickiest day, Saturday, also has the highest shower chance of the period: 50%. All other days: 30% or less.
