How do biosphere reserves in the EU affect the coproduction of #ecosystemservices? A fantastic international working group led by Matthias Schröter worked on this question. Now out in Ecosystems and People! tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…

Back from the field, we and co-authors Sean Smukler Matthew Mitchell, A Czajewska, Keefe Keeley, Adrian Verster,Kai Chan examined a whole range of attributes. I designed #Bayesian multispecies abundance models of birds in Stan to examine alpha and beta diversity across farm types

🌳New Paper! I'm excited to share the most significant piece of my PhD research, out today in @esaecosphere! "Woody perennial polycultures in the U.S. Midwest enhance biodiversity and ecosystem functions" esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ec… This paper was a team effort - so🧵

Excited to announce that I received a NSERC / CRSNG Discovery Grant! Looking forward to using this support to better understand landscape multifunctionality.

I love how in academia you go for a two day interview, meet every faculty member, students and deans, have lunch/dinner with a few of them and then they just ghost you. You would think the least they could do is write you an email to let you know you didn't get the position.

What is a #ClimateEmergency Declaration? Are they doing anything? How do they expose simplistic assumptions about how emergencies are governed in law? If you’re interested in #climatechange, emergencies and law, check out my new article Transnatl Enviro Law: cambridge.org/core/journals/…

Fantastic #ESA2022 workshop on acoustic monitoring just wrapped up. Tessa Rhinehart, R. Patrick Lyon et al gave a great run through of setup, deployment, data retrieval, analysis, classification, and ecological interpretation! Looking forward to putting these learnings into practice

Great to see so many people for the #SWEEET workshop at #ESA2022 /#CSEE2022 but why is it last in the program and in so small a room that we’re overflowing?

Excited to share a new paper with Tahia Devisscher in Landscape and Urban Planning on forest #ecosystemservices and #multifunctionality along an urban-rural gradient. We found higher ES at rural end but no effect of forest fragment size: sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Bucket list item checked ☑️ off: meeting David Suzuki !! Had the opportunity to chat with him and tell him a bit about the amazing research happening Centre for Sustainable Food Systems at UBC Farm. Grew up with The Nature of Things so this was a huge thrill.

Forest fragments provide several ESS even if small. Big trees play an important role in this regard. Paper calls for conservation of multi-functional forest fragments in and around cities. Thanks Matthew Mitchell for a fantastic collaboration!! @ubcforestry
