In 2023, #EastAfrica faced climate disasters, conflicts, and economic shocks.
Despite these challenges, I'm immensely proud of the resilience and dedication of World Food Programme team and grateful for our partners. Together, we provided vital food assistance to nearly 40 million people.
Update on #floods in #EastAfrica :
🔵Currently, World Food Programme aims to support 214,000 people with food and nutrition
🔵Cash grants from WFP enable families in #Somalia to take preemptive action against flooding
🔵Our support to governments includes logistical support
Once again, #ClimateChange is striking the Greater #HornOfAfrica . Heavy rainfall and flooding are threatening the region.
Working with governments, World Food Programme is already deploying food assistance and logistics support in #Burundi & #Kenya .
Ongoing conflict in #Sudan is making it impossible for World Food Programme to deliver assistance at the scale needed to address soaring levels of hunger across the country.
