My suggestion to people following these campus protests in the United States: The student journalists at these institutions have done a stellar job covering this unrest from the ground. I would give their coverage more credence than the viral ravings of social media influencers.

It says a lot about the worlds that many people - incl many journalists - on this platform inhabit that when they hear 'students' they automatically think of Ivy League universities where tuition is 65k a year rather than, say, the local state school or technical college.

No matter what country we’re talking about, in my long experience as a journalist security forces obstructing the lawful work of journalists reporting on their activities are rarely doing so because they’re up to anything great.
