Global temperatures have remained persistently high over the past few months despite fading El Nino conditions in the tropical Pacific. We saw records tied or set in May, June, July, and August. Its only in September 2024 that we are likely to move out of record territory:

#Francine is displaying many signs of having a healthy, formative core. Sharp pressure drop, wind maxima near the center, and even a temp spike at the center. Once the broader circulation conforms to this developing core, we could be off to the races.

We've noticed the nascent eye of Francine from Brownsville radar and now we're beginning to see it pop out on visible satellite. The storm is really wrapping up this afternoon and we see little that'll prevent further strengthening over the next 24 hours.

Recently named Tropical Storm #Francine is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane when it reaches the northwestern Gulf coast on Wednesday. As it does, heavy rainfall will lead to numerous instances of flash flooding across the MS Delta, some of which could be significant.

Recent microwave imagery of #Francine gives us a better look at the storm compared to distant radar. We can see a strong spiral band wrapping into a developing inner core. Given the environment, this kind of structure could support a rapid increase in strength in the short term.
