Coaching should not *just* be about teachers learning how to execute techniques but about supporting teachers to develop their *judgement* too i.e. deploying techniques appropriately to meet goals. Therefore, we need to know about mental models. Why?

Today’s INSET involved only new staff. We did tonnes of role play practising fundamental routines (321 SLANT, instruction sandwiches, entry, exit); questioning strategies (I say, you say, choral response & turn & talk); & delivering (de)merits with greater emotional range.

First teaching day with just Year 7 in today. A total of 126 'observations' took place where staff were watching & learning from each other. We discussed 'openness to learning' in our INSET & our staff are truly living this value. Very proud to work at Ark Soane Academy

Social media made us overvalue opinions and undervalue actions. We’re now judged more by what we say than what we do, and words, unlike deeds, are easy to fake.
