One of the most frustrating parts of being a teacher is watching non-educators debate the operation of educational systems. Now more than ever. 😔

Well, I quit my teaching job today. It wasn’t easy. I’ve been doing this for ten years. But I was tired. Tired of negotiating my values and my humanity. Tired of saying yes when I really wanted to say no. Tired of smiling and nodding when I wanted to shake my head.

Thankful for my county for making the safe and smart decision. It makes me so sad that other counties are not doing the same and that educators have to make a decision between their passion and their health/wellbeing 💔

Very glad my county is taking an SEL approach. As a counselor I worry though that our counseling resources will be stretched thin with growing social/emotional needs under normal circumstances and now with COVID adding to that.

Check on your educator friends. We are struggling. I honestly don't know it the burnout from spring ever really subsided and it's been rearing it's ugly head all year. Josh Thompson keep fighting the good fight, hang in there.

I have since been informed by some v v v angry white women that the person selling these packets is not a teacher, but a homeschooling mom trying “help out” families whose kids need more busy work during DL. This information changes my opinions about this not at all.

What this woman has done for her country must never be forgotten.

Every lesson is posted on canvas for parents to access. Teachers answer countless parent emails/phone calls each day. Parent-Teacher conferences twice a year. Curriculum is accessible on our district website. B.O.E democratically elected. But yeah, transparency.
