Happy to share the published protocol of the EcoSleep cohort study! We follow a small cohort of healthy sleeper for one year to find seasonal changes and day-to-day influences on subsequent sleep episodes with a special focus on individual variability!🌻 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/js…

From 1969 to 2008 John Margolies photographed the eccentric roadside architecture and ephemera of the US. Library of Congress bought the lot, a total of 11,710 colour slides, and lifted all copyright restrictions on them. Here's our highlights: buff.ly/3DjjZ4L

Today, I had an excellent time in Cologne hosted by Julian Koenig, sharing my knowledge of how light affects physiology and behaviour. Fun demonstrations of light measurements and super engaged students! 🌻 Thank you!

1/ 🚨New episode alert! We are kicking off Season 2 with a journey through time. Our guest Orie Shafer brings back to when circadian rhythms were discovered.

2/ To make sure that humans really did have an ‘internal clock’, scientists brought participants (often themselves!) into caves without any light input, so that the external light/dark cycle would not affect the participant⏰

Light O'Clock (@lightoclock) 's Twitter Profile Photo

3/ They found that indeed, even without external inputs such as daily changes in light, humans did have a rhythm of about 24 hours in many biological processes (such as sleep/wake rhythm and temperature) 🌅

4/ In this episode, we also discuss Orie’s research in circadian clocks in the fruit fly (which scientists call "Drosophila melanogaster"). Turns out that much of what we know about human circadian rhythms was actually first discovered in this little fly! 🪰
