We are practicing looking closely to notice the details in creation around us 🔍 We drew observational drawings of our discoveries to capture all the details we see in nature’s beauty. 🍃🌸🌿#outdoorlearning #connectingwithnature #wondersofnature

Kids have the innate desire to learn, nurture, and explore! For example, the students' interests during our Outdoor Exploration Activity led them to find "rolly pollys" and create homes to 'take care of them' and 'keep them safe'!

Play, with open-ended & language focused materials, promotes the use & understanding of symbolic representation, communication & story telling. Early literacy play provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate & expand on what they know about any topic that interests them!

Exploring First Nations principles by making welcome Inuksuks. Stacking rocks made us feel frustrated at first b/c the rocks kept falling. After taking deep breaths & trying again, we found the act of mindful stacking to be calming. The Inuksuks revealed our 'capacity as humans'.

#Emotions are involved in many important functions. Emotions impact our attention, learning, and relationships. #Kindergarten is a time when we can practice understanding and communicating our emotions with others, leading to better #selfregulation. Which emotions can you see?

5 year olds are capable and wise! Learning about self-talk, these quotes were too good not to share. What intentional positive thoughts are you using today to sustain optimism, hope and joy?

Children's story telling helps to improve language, emotional awareness, & mental connections btw ideas & symbols. These stories bring their inner worlds to life, creating a participatory and immersive experience for both the story teller and the listener! #storyworkshop

Letter sounds can be tricky for our learners. Using a mirror helps students see themselves correctly producing consonant & vowel sounds & differentiate btw similar sounds. Get those mirrors out and have fun with this multi sensory tool that will assist in phonetic skills!
