The main impact of stop-and-frisk and strategies like it was to massively increase the number of police contacts, which in turn increases possibility of things going wrong (in addition to prosecution on dumb offenses).

I spent five years on the subject and know they are. It’s not as bad as 1970, but the way policing is conducted (versus the way we do white-collar enforcement for instance) there’s a disproportionate quantity of poor and poor black people who get screwed by the justice system.
