When you send your kids to school there is zero chance they will come back to you "a different gender," but there is certainly a chance they won't come back at all. Yet some of y'all are worried about the former while shrugging about the latter.

We’ve fled the South to Michigan for the weekend, and our cabin has some graffiti from the ‘40s. Apparently it was a “music, dramatics, and dancing” camp so hopefully we get haunted by ghosts with jazz hands and an irrepressible desire to break in to song.

Some people don’t seem to think of Covid as a thing that killed and disabled millions in the initial wave (and continues to kill thousands and disable more every week.) They think of it as a drag that inconvenienced them. I imagine this helps with the delusion that it’s over.

“'Flu is, for most part, very predictable,' Guthmiller said. COVID has.. so far landed on twice-yearly surges, the timing, size, & precise dynamics of which remain unpredictable. This year’s summer wave.. dwarfs last year’s & started earlier." #LongCovid theatlantic.com/health/archive…
