anna harvey remember standing near to your Dad (doing the electronics) at the RAH proms premiere of Madonna of Winter & Spring many years ago. Was able to tell him what a great piece it was. About to revisit his string quartets.
TOPNOTCH event last night Owl Bookshop with brilliant Kate Muir of Everything About the Menopause..., the non-fiction half of our just-invented Department of Mid-life Chaos.
Nothing like a fantastic local bookshop +rowdy interesting audience + great ex-students +passionate readers. Thank you 🧡💙

Today at Blythburgh Church, two outstanding performers presented a wonderfully eclectic programme, from Dowland and Purcell, to traditional Sephardic and Andalucian songs, to Britten. A simple, pure meeting of guitar and tenor.
Karim Sulayman and Sean Shibe, you were a delight.
Amazing to hear Jonathan Harvey’s “Sufi Dance” performed by Sean Shibe in a wonderful programme at Blythburgh Church #aldeburghfestival

anna harvey I did my undergraduate thesis on Jonathan way back in 1981/2. He was so very kind and generous with his time and I loved getting to know his music. Hearing his Mortuos Plango, Vivos Voce live years later was extraordinary.
anna harvey Such a kind soul and brilliant man. A rare creature! I treasure memories of working with him.
anna harvey I love his opera “Inquest of Love”…and wish someone would record it. It’s a masterpiece 🎶❤️
anna harvey Such an important voice. His choral works are among the finest of the last half century and more - the Missa Brevis being a particular favourite of mine. It was a pleasure to meet him in 2009. He is much missed.
