For disabled folks, our mobility aids are an extension of our bodies. They give us freedom and access. Not to mention they're absurdly expensive. To destroy one so casually is so deeply cruel and ableist.

One time while covering a disability related story in a cramped space, I stumbled w/ the tripod I had & accidentally bumped another reporter in the ankle. I used to work w/him, I’m sure he knew I’m disabled. He turned around & said to me, “what are you trying to do, cripple me?”
