Make it 20 days straight and 49 of the past 57 days where supply has exceeded California grid demand for 0.25-9.92 h per day.

Today's peak: 124.5% of demand

During the past 14 days+nights, has supplied an AVERAGE of 75.6% of demand

Yet another record on April 30:

Peak discharge rate of grid batteries passed 7 GW, reaching 7.046 GW at 7:55 PM

That's >7 nuclear reactors worth of discharge.

Previous record was 6.758 GW set Apr. 29

New record is just over twice the peak from April 30, 2023, 3.512 GW.

Canada's billion-dollar bet on at Boundary Dam 3 has been a bust. The technology has badly underperformed and the CO2 that is captured has been used for enhanced oil recovery, which has likely led to an increase in global CO2 emissions.

And the 90%-95% CO2 capture efficiency claims by industry, academics, pundits are jokes

'CCS installation at Boundary Dam 3 coal plant an “underperforming failure”, achieving only a 57% capture rate after 9 years'

Amazing reduction in April fossil gas use on California's grid in just one year!

Due to increase in utility PV (increasing supply), rooftop PV (decreasing demand) and batteries (shifting PV supply from day to night)

Let's go big on clean energy. A great way to ensure we get 100% of the energy all day is to include offshore wind into our portfolio. 100% for Offshore Wind brings clean energy to the grid when the sun is not shining.

New paper quantifies huge India onshore wind potential at different heights up to 200 m, accounting for exclusions at 10-m resolution AND quantifies co-located solar potential

Enough wind to power India for all purposes 2x in 2050

Congrats Anna-Katharina von Krauland, PhD

In Europe we keep discussing about electric cars…

In China they know electrification is the winner and are focusing on electrifying everything, even shipping!

This electric container will serve a commercial route starting as soon as NOW…

Another new record yesterday (Tue Apr. 30)

Batteries provided 4.83% of California's electricity output in the 24-h average (prev record 4.62%), which means they provided ~10% of all nighttime electricity, shifting it from the excess daytime generation.
