Canada's billion-dollar bet on #carboncapture at Boundary Dam 3 has been a bust. The technology has badly underperformed and the CO2 that is captured has been used for enhanced oil recovery, which has likely led to an increase in global CO2 emissions.

And the 90%-95% CO2 capture efficiency claims by industry, academics, pundits are jokes

Amazing reduction in April fossil gas use on California's grid in just one year!
Due to increase in utility PV (increasing supply), rooftop PV (decreasing demand) and batteries (shifting PV supply from day to night)
Grid Status
May 2 was the 19th day straight and 48th of 56 where #WindWaterSolar supply exceeded demand on California's grid (for 7.75 h, peaking at 125.3% of demand)
Over 56 days/nights, WWS Averaged 4.13 hours/day > 100% of demand
Full stats here:

And the streak rolls into May.
For the 18th day in a row and 47th of past 55, California #WindWaterSolar supply exceeded 100% of demand, for 8.67 h on May 1, peaking at 130.6%.
Over the 55 days, WWS exceeded demand 4.1 h/day on avg and the 24-h avg WWS supply has been 62.3%
Let's go big on clean energy. A great way to ensure we get 100% of the energy all day is to include offshore wind into our portfolio. 100% for Offshore Wind brings clean energy to the grid when the sun is not shining.
This is the clearest news summary of scientific and cost data that I have ever heard.
Thank you Heather Waldman

Another new record yesterday (Tue Apr. 30)
Batteries provided 4.83% of California's electricity output in the 24-h average (prev record 4.62%), which means they provided ~10% of all nighttime electricity, shifting it from the excess daytime #WindWaterSolar generation.
