Goodbye, Plebe Summer and welcome to the Fall Academic year! As plebe summer sets across the horizon, the #ClassOf2028 rose early this morning for their Regiment 10K run around the Yard, followed by a physical training session. This run signifies the last stretch of Plebe Summer.

Congratulations to the #Classof2026 for signing 2 for 7! The 2 for 7 signing marks a pivotal moment in every midshipman’s career when they formally commit to completing their final two years at the Academy and dedicate at least five years of service to the Navy or Marine Corps.

These excited second-class (2/C, or juniors) midshipmen gathered to celebrate their recent 2 for 7 signings with their commitment dinner. During this event, the 2/C reaffirmed the Oath of Office that they agreed on during their Induction Day of their plebe year.

Today, the Naval Academy held a “First Nail” groundbreaking ceremony in T-Court for the Bancroft Hall Recapitalization (renovation) Program, followed by a ribbon cutting near Triton Light for the completion of the Farragut Seawall reconstruction.

This weekend, parents of the #Classof2026 had the opportunity to visit the Yard and spend quality time with their midshipmen. They experienced firsthand the demanding routine of their mids by attending classes, dining in King Hall, touring Bancroft Hall, and watching a parade.

Fall PRT: This morning, the midshipmen crushed their semi-annual Physical Readiness Test (PRT). This test is a physical standard across the navy composed of cadenced pushups, a timed plank, and a 1.5-mile run. Great work Brigade and keep training for the Spring PRT!

On Saturday, @navyfb dominated the home field with a 38-11 win against the Temple Owls! They could not handle our defensive line and offense with five touchdowns and one safety. Navy covered 409 total yards, 112 passing and 297 rushing. Congratulations on an exceptional victory!

In honor of the annual 2/C Parents Weekend, the Men's and Women' Glee Clubs, Gospel Choir, and Mariachi Marineros joined together in a rare, combined performance highlighting the incredible talents of the Brigade of Midshipmen!

U.S. Naval Academy graduate from the #ClassOf1993, Captain John “Chris” Cassidy has led a successful career, known for serving both as a Navy SEAL and a NASA astronaut. Last night, the Brigade had the honor of listening to this legend’s stories as a SEAL and an astronaut.

Honoring the heroes, the fallen, and the resilience of our nation. This morning, the Brigade of Midshipmen and USNA staff gathered to pay tribute to the 343 courageous first responders who gave their lives in the rescue efforts during the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Yesterday, midshipmen ran the 9/11 Remembrance Run. Following the run, a tribute in T-Court took place when a moment of silence was held and remarks were given by the Deputy Commandant and Lieutenant John Breen, a New York City firefighter, concluding the day of reflection.

Rear Admiral Virgil Lusk “Hap” Hill Jr., passed on 6 September 2024 at age 86. He served as the 53rd Superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy in 1988–91 before retiring from the US Navy in 1993.  Fair winds, and following seas.
