The globally shared hardliner refrain “they only understand strength” is unfalsifiable (when the policy fails, it’s always and only because we didn’t show enough strength) because it’s not really a policy argument, it’s a political one meant to crowd out de-escalatory options.

Some people said means words about me, a powerful public official, and I heard some protestors in California were annoying, therefore my political movement can attempt to overthrow the Constitution and violently attack Congress.
Pretty good distillation of MAGA thought, actually.

interesting: David Millstone, a maaaaajor supporter of Ron DeSantis who donated at least $1 million to his superPAC last year, is now running for a seat on the board of Yale University. (It's a 2-person election that all Yale alumni can vote in in coming weeks.)

Of course there's a lot of structural unfairness in the US economy. The problem is, that unfairness existed five years ago - was worse, even - and yet people were quite enthusiastic about the economy. So even if that's the cause of the current doom and gloom, something changed!

I've been getting some great feedback on my debut book, thank you to everyone who has ordered a copy! It's greatly appreciated and I love that people are finally getting to read it. If you haven't gotten one yet, you can get it for less than a fiver!

I will die on this hill: it is fine not to want to spend your time around children. It’s fine not to want to have them. It’s fine to say they overstimulate you.

It is not fine to dislike an entire category of ppl, a category that is one of the most vulnerable in the world.

something Garrett Herrin and I will be updating live on our new app (tiny.cc/2024-polls) is the electoral college bias in the polls and how it evolves over the course of the next 7 months

Collin ἐγὼ εἰμί 🧦🥑 Empirically the expected poll error in April is 7 points. In March it was 8 points. So basically I think my answer to your question is “no it’s not entirely consistent and biases are playing a role in these tweets ”
