School Management Committees (SMCs) play a vital role in ensuring MoES policies are implemented within schools. With AmplifyChange we are working with SMCs to ensure schools support & implement the 2020 School Re-entry Guidelines that advocate for a safe learning environment.

Research shows that adolescent mothers continue to encounter hurdles especially the child care burden which affects their school re-entry. With AmplifyChange , we advocate for positive parental & community support for a successful school re-entry & retention of adolescent mothers.

Learners note that fellow peers are their first source of SRH information. Peers sometimes lack accurate information contributing to poor SRH decisions. With AmplifyChange, we advocate for strengthening of School Health Committes (SHCs) to provide age appropriate SRH information.

Learners at Secondary level that get pregnant are more likely to rejoin school compared to their counterparts at primary level. Stakeholders believe they are more determined, focused & attach more value to education. Together we can support school re-entry of adolescent mothers.

While some parents are aware that adolescent mothers have a right to rejoin school, they are reluctant to support adolescent mothers rejoin school. This is largely because of the financial costs involved in paying school bills & providing child care support.AmplifyChange

There is need to popularize the 2020 MoES Revised Guidelines on Prevention & Management of Teenage Pregnancy in School Settings. This will help gain positive support of parents who still believe that allowing adolescent mothers to rejoin school is a favour from school heads.
