So saddening to hear of the passing of Prof Lynn Conway. She was responsible 2 major revolutions in computing chip design. Such an inspiring figure to many trans women in my field. Her website was a major source for me when I was coming out.

Sad to hear of the death of Lynn Conway, the trans woman who faced down vicious prejudice to become a key figure in the rise of computers and the Internet. A great life, lived to the full.

I have now seen further evidence that, since the Bell decision in the High Court (1 December 2020), there has been a huge increase in deaths of young trans people on the NHS waiting list - and that NHS management has sought to suppress that evidence. CW: Suicide 🧵

So Wes Streeting MP is publishing outdated advice to pharmacists on supporting young trans people while announcing his ban on this lifesaving treatment will continue. In effect he is acknowledging his ban will harm trans kids by including a list of suicide prevention organisations.

The Labour govt has renewed the ban on new scripts for puberty blockers for trans kids, and extended the ban to Northern Ireland. Non-trans kids still have access to these medications, which are not considered dangerous and are still in use in kids. gov.uk/government/new…
