It really grinds my gears when I hear professors imply that only high-risk research is valuable, or worse yet, that you should never do research that would happen anyway if you did not exist.

I am grateful to have a helping hand in Pierre-Luc Bacon, Riashat Islam and Pierre Thodoroff when I first started my research career as an MSc student in 2018. The advice they gave me on reading research papers, organizing my thoughts, and thinking like a researcher is still with me. (1/N)
