Students at Austin ISD’s Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders held a walkout this afternoon to advocate for abortion rights.

One of the students who organized the walkout said abortion rights represent a larger issue. “It really represents people having access to their own bodies and when we see laws that are taking that away, it doesn’t end with abortions.”

The school’s interim principal praised students for taking action. “It’s a school for young women leaders and we feel strongly about promoting these young women from 6th through 12th grade to find their voice.”
