Putting nutrient neutrality to one side, this defeat at this stage of the legislation means the Government can’t retable the amendment again with this bill. That kinda serves them right just for the act of inserting it so late in the legislative process

Only two words spring to mind: ‘national’ + ‘embarrassment’. Last week I travelled from Barcelona to London on HS trains & tracks built at a fraction of the cost of HS2 & much quicker. Why are we so bad at this? We’re decades behind independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…

I'm just back from hols so a little late to this, but I've written a short blog on The Labour Party's reshuffle. In the pantheons of reshuffles, last week's was pretty much up there as textbook. Starmer's aim is to present an image of government-in-waiting londoncommunications.co.uk/insights/blog/…

Well done McDonald's UK 👏🏻 - this is precisely what day release is all about and all the evidence shows that key to rehabilitation & cutting reoffending is employment.

After 1400km by train from Spain to Crofton Park, I’m greeted by this. I can’t see the fact that machines never work, staff rarer than hens teeth & the general neglect of the station being solved by closing the ticket office - it’ll just be worse than it already is, which is bad!

An hour to kill in Nîmes. Oooh, look - they’ve got one of those little streams like there used to be near the old City Hall until the More London killjoys ripped it out

In a rare case of French high-speed railways not being better than UK high speed trains, the on board Wi-Fi is shit here too. A no score draw on that front I think. 🇫🇷 🚊 0 - 0 🚊 🇬🇧

Good piece. If people thought the Uxbridge result set in train an anti anti car agenda then a Tory win in London next May would be Uxbridge on steroids. That being said, I agree with Stephen - ULEZ isn’t the route to victory for the Tories in London. Khan still favourite to win

Can there just be a general agreement to end the use of coffins in political campaigns? It’s grim, particularly when personalised around individuals
