🚨🚨🚨 Yesterday, the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India notified revised NREGA wages for all states. While the wages are hiked by a bit, it seemed almost satirical to many. The reason?

In 2019, a committee headed by Dr Anoop Satpathy recommended ₹375 a day as a minimum daily wage for someone to meet monthly needs in India. Five years later, a parliamentary committee upheld it. They noted that NREGA wages are too low

and should be at least ₹375 a day in all states. A month later, the new wages are notified. The highest wage is notified in Haryana. Guess how much that is?
₹374 a day! ₹1 less than what both committees recommended
