Another excellent wildfire thread from Dr Thomas Smith 🔥🌏 this time on the Rhodes wildfires - hoping everyone stays safe. We’re experiencing very different weather here than 12 months ago, but the risk, threat and potential impacts for us in the UK are still there. #WildfireAdaptation

Rhodes wildfire 🇬🇷🔥: 🛰️Sentinel-3 imagery shows the dramatic growth of the wildfire yesterday (Saturday) afternoon through to today (blue outline). The evacuation was crucial as the fire spread along the entire resort coastline. The fire grew by ~9,000 ha in 24 hours.

A horrific tragedy. Thoughts are with the family and friends of those on board the Canadair and the firefighters and pilots continuing to deal with the wildfires raging across Greece 🇬🇷

Great work from our Fire Safety team with support from legal colleagues at Northumberland County Council in securing this conviction. Whilst we always try to work with businesses to improve FS, we will not hesitate to prosecute blatant and repeated disregard for public safety.
