The result: sediment cores from 31 sites around Sullom Voe, Basta Voe and Dury Voe/Cat Firth based on reflection seismic and parametric sub-bottom profiling of last year's cruise. 200 additional lines of #multibeam bathymetric mapping and #TOPAS sub-bottom profiling were realised

Cores stem from nearshore basins at depths of 25-100 m where (sub)recent shelf sediments cover the Pleistocene glacial till. Marine/terrestrial contacts will be used to reconstruct postglacial sea-level history. Strong seismic reflectors show candidate #tsunami deposits 🌊🪨⛏️

Follow-up lab analyses will date the potential tsunami deposits by #osl and 14C and aim at establishing offshore facies models of tsunamis. Sea-level index points will be identified and dated to better constrain regional sea-level change and glacio-isostatic adjustment #GIA
