Today at the library I was reading in a recliner when a little boy, maybe 18 months old, toddled over. He crawled up my legs, turned around & without a word, plopped down in my lap. There he stayed for a good 10 min. His mom was so apologetic but it was the highlight of my day!

One of the strangest things about the ICU is when you care for a patient for 12, 24, 36 hours while they are sedated/unconscious then you come back days later & “meet” them for the first time after they’re extubated & awake.

I could barely get my kids through bath time before their outside-all-day, sun kissed & sleepy bodies fell asleep by 7:30. Between riding bikes, going to the park, the lemonade stand, swimming & pizza outside for dinner, today was a solid 10/10 day, all around. ❤️

Can’t be a nearly 80° day in spring without hosting a lemonade stand! 25 cents a cup (or free if you want 😂) & the girls are joyously waving at everyone coming by. 😊 Such a beautiful day! 🍋

I don’t know if it’s getting older or just fully leaning into my introversion but there is pretty much nowhere I’d rather be than at home.

I worked all week & ran errands all morning. The moment - the second - I got home this afternoon, my dog gave me The Look & I sat down, didn’t even take my coat off, and she crawled onto me & collapsed with the biggest & most contented sigh & fell immediately asleep. 🥹

When I came home from my workout this morning, my 7 year old came out of her room, rubbing sleepiness from her eyes, carrying a book. She quietly asked “Can we snuggle & read?”

Of course I said yes. So under a cozy blanket, books in our laps, cuddled close together, we read. 🥹

I’ve been back at work for two weeks now after nearly two months off recovering. Everyone has been lovely & welcoming but the most lovely & welcoming? My past orientees. All of them hugged me & needed all the details & were so worried. It’s just the sweetest feeling 🥹
