⚠️Heads up for patchy fog across the northern Coastal Plain this morning! An area of thick fog has developed over Warren, Halifax, and Vance this morning. Use caution if traveling in this area this morning and give yourself extra time to reach your destination safely. #NCwx

For those with outdoor plans this evening, the arrival of light rain (the darker blue and green colors) is generally expected to hold off until after midnight and will spread northward into southern portions of the NC Piedmont, Sandhills, and Coastal Plain through daybreak.

After pleasantly cool morning temperatures in the upper 50s and lower 60s, all 3 of our climate sites topped out into the lower to mid 80s this afternoon.

Light rain associated with a coastal low will spread into our southern areas overnight and linger through midday tomorrow. Generally low precipitation amounts are expected with this system. #NCwx

Rain that occurs this morning will come from low pressure moving up the coast, while the chance of rain this afternoon will come from a cold front moving through. You'll definitely notice the drop in temperatures behind this front!

Behind yesterday's cold front, not only will the temperatures be cooler, but we'll also have drier air as well.  Warmer and more humid air will return by the end of the week.

Amidst periodic light rain and persistent cloud cover, there is also a threat of a strong north to south longshore current and all beaches except Brunswick county beaches 🌊 #ILMwx #NCwx #SCwx

215 pm: Sunny skies are noted across much of central NC this afternoon with a few clouds in the southern Coastal Plain and Southern Piedmont. Temperatures have warmed into the lower 70s in most locations with some mid 70s in a few spots. #ncwx

Here are the daily high/low and rainfall amounts as of 5pm. Very pleasant today, with some near record overnight lows expected tonight as temperatures drop into the 50s and even upper 40s.

It should be another beautiful day to go outside and enjoy some dry fall weather.  The next chance of rain won't arrive until at least Thursday night.

Any of you early birds happen to see this in the sky this morning? It was a Space X rocket launch from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The launch was at 5:23 this morning. Trey Snow caught this on his drive to work shortly after about 5:30.
