☔Latest radar this Fri eve shows some light rain pushing toward NE SC from the south which will move into SE NC overnight and end later Sat. Although most locales should only pick up ~0.25" or less, there is a low risk for 1+" near the coast. weather.gov/ilm #ncwx #scwx

A cold front moved through the Carolinas early this morning. Cooler and drier air will build in behind this front for the first half of the week. If you live more than about 10 miles inland, your lows should reach the 50s Monday and Tuesday nights! #ncwx #scwx

Clouds should diminish along the coast as yesterday's cold front stalls across Florida. Drier air and comfortable temperatures will continue for the next couple of days with nighttime lows expected to dip into the 50s away from the beaches! #ncwx #scwx

Here's a daily SST Loop of the North Atlantic Basin running from Aug 01 to Sep 08, 2024. Water temps still plenty warm to sustain tropical development (26.7C or 80F). As always, note the meandering Gulf Stream up the U.S. East Coast and then across the North Atlantic. #scwx #ncwx

58°F with a dewpoint of 53°F at ILM Airport as of 7:30 AM EDT this morning. Autumnal September sunrise reminds us that the equinox is approaching. You still have time to pontificate your winter greens though. #ncwx #scwx #ILMwx

Did you notice the hazy or milky looking skies overhead today, across Southeast NC and Northeast SC? Well it's smoke from fires upstream, confirmed by looking at a 506pm EDT visible satellite Imagery (opaque reflection) with NOAA's smoke analysis for the day. #ilmwx #ncwx #scwx

A non-tropical low is projected to develop off the Southeast U.S. coast this weekend. There is a 20% chance it could attain tropical characteristics as it evolves. The low could also move toward the Carolinas coast and bring some impacts to the area early next week.

There is a risk of strong rip currents today, especially for the beaches of New Hanover, Pender, & Georgetown Counties. An area of low pressure off the coast this weekend will result in continued rough surf & rips. Note: The attached image was corrected from this morning's post.
