Very informative article by Dr. Olga Onuch (Онух) on collective identities in #Ukraine . Since 2014 there was an clear shift towards strengthening of civic identities, also visible in surveys. IMHO, this shift is saturated in volunteers' and soldiers' discourses about being Ukrainian today

Morning starts with air defense sirens all across Ukraine. Russian missiles hit energy infrastructure in Kyiv and other cities, causing electricity and water outages. Russia is not interested in peace talks, nor in global food security. Putin’s only goal is death and destruction.

Another Monday morning Russian missile barrage underway. Just heard at least three explosions in Kyiv. Unclear what, if anything, hit. Air defense systems working and some Russian missiles or drones reportedly show down. All of Ukraine is under an air raid alert at the moment.

In the past two years, support for democracy among Ukrainians surged from 41 percent to 76 percent. Political science hasn't seen anything like it in recent memory, argues Dr. Olga Onuch (Онух).buff.ly/3W75UAN

My PhD student Francisco. studies this exactly and Fra I think we have an interesting paper. This being the tightest race ever and with turnout steady at 80% lots of polisci theory is being challenged. We need to chat paper options through with Jon Mellon - some cool stuff here.

Looks like the tightest race ever. Not great for a clean slate and mandate. Reminds of Rousseff’s win in 2014.

Update it’s still very close.

Race = extremely tight. This is 4th largest democracy in the world. Result is hugely important. Normally when 88% of votes are counted we know the result but this year with such a tight race - it might not be so clear. Nail biter! #EleccionesBrasil #BrazilElections
