Hopefully we’ll see some penguins in the falklands but this tree full of vultures in Stanley is pretty cool in the meantime

Peale’s dolphins inshore today - other mammal highlights of the week include a commerson’s dolphin, southern sea lions, and multiple sei whales! All in just two days of searching - the Falklands wildlife is amazing

Our researchers and PhD students are in Antarctica studying Antarctic krill and the whales that feed upon them 🐳 The data collected will help safeguard vital krill stocks, which underpin the unique Southern Ocean ecosystem. Read more 👉 brnw.ch/21wI2xF #WeAreUoS

We’re back from Antarctica now with lots of amazing moments to share once all the photos are processed! It was a trip of a lifetime capped off by these hourglass dolphins sending us on our way.

Before we headed to the Antarctic continent, we spent a few days in the Falklands preparing for our trip South. Here we got to see lots of Gentoo and Magellanic penguins up close, and these dozy young Magellanics were happy sitting in the sun in our presence. I love penguins.

Gentoo penguins were my favourite of the 4 species we saw. Loved watching them run around and chase each other everywhere from the Falklands to the Peninsula.

Wishing a happy #WorldPenguinDay to all penguins - especially this one (he’s not dead he’s just got a poor taste in beds)

Great to spend the past 3 days at British Antarctic Survey 🐧 meeting lots of amazing researchers and learning lots about methods to go even further with my PhD project. Enjoyed presenting to the ecosystems team too - will be back soon!

On #WorldAlbatrossDay I thought I’d look back at this photo from the first day I ever saw albatross down in New Zealand in 2022. I didn’t know at the time that the next year I’d be lucky enough to study them and other marine predators for my PhD

Not marine related, but I'll be running the New Forest Marathon in September for Maggie's, a charity that supports people in their journeys with cancer. It would mean a lot if anyone wants to donate with the link below. Lmk if you want to see me struggle! justgiving.com/fundraising/Jo…

Great couple of days at #BESMove2024 meeting lots of movement ecologists and hearing about some really interesting research! Love the fresh perspectives from the land and skies. Great to present the work of my first chapter here too
