A distinction to emphasize on this topic: general robotics platform ≠ general purpose robots (necessarily!) Some level of generality is sort of implied in the scaling laws for robotics hypothesis (lots of data from a variety of tasks/environments/embodiments) => a platform for

Neo from 1X was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen in technology. Watch Bernt Bornich Eric Jang and the rest of the 1X team walk through their approach, across hardware, AI, manufacturing, and more. The physical world becomes a computer.

1/ If you've been around San Francisco recently, you’ve probably noticed Waymo everywhere. Self-driving cars are just one example of how autonomy is becoming more mainstream. But there's even more happening in industries like defense, industrial processes, and manufacturing...

Exowatt launches today! ☀️ The power requirements to scale AI are astronomical. Within a decade AI will require 650TWh of new power generation – more than the electricity demand of South Korea. In the U.S. alone, data centers will require the equivalent amount of electricity to

The ecosystem of autonomous systems in some domains, like aerial, is mature enough that software-first autonomy capabilities can be built across hardware systems. Conversely, other domains dominated by legacy hardware will also need autonomy capabilities that make these systems

Really impressed with what Adrian Macneil — 🤖/acc and the Foxglove team have done with Actuate 2024. As robotics becomes a more developer-led ecosystem, it needs more events that bring together the dev community and fill the space between academic conferences and industry trade shows.

Meet Rob the robot 🤖 While we’re deep into a16z A16Z GAMES SPEEDRUN 🧊 in Los Angeles, we have a very cool project cooking in our Zürich office 👨‍🍳 The hypothesis: If our agent is able to navigate and act in any given virtual environment (game), it should not be far away from being able to
