Good theology moves us to partner with Divinity to bring heaven to bear on earth. Bad theology leads us to building a real hell on earth. Bad theology imagines a god that condemns us for exploring good theology. Good theology imagines a God that forgives us for bad theology.

When “sin” is thought of primarily in terms of failure to perform purity instead of the absence of justice (which deprives us of peace), you end up with a god who does a whole lotta silly stuff while we all live in hell. That’s called an idol.

Every election cycle Republicans find the absolute worst I'm talking scraping the bottom of the barrel human beings, to represent them in political life... then spend the next four years demanding that people not judge them for who they vote for...

“Christian nationalism” has always meant “white nationalism.” One just sounds more defensible to people who refuse to believe people are still capable of being white supremacists.
