Sometimes, moments of pure magic sneak up on you and just casually take your breath away. Like autumn sunlight, pouring through golden leaves and spilling into the River Dove, creating thousands of diamonds in the mist. The world is more beautiful than we deserve.

In our frantic world we rush from place to place, looking, but not really seeing. We might increase efficiency and productivity, but we lose a connection with nature and the slow drift of seasons, the quiet and the beauty. Sometimes we all need to sit and just watch clouds roll.

As a kid I felt a shiver of excitement when my dad drove down a lane with grass in the middle, like we were on an adventure, a journey to a place where few other people travelled, on a road so narrow we had to breathe in to fit down. In truth, I still get that little thrill now.

Man and crow, side by side, just watching the light fade over Monsal Dale together. This sums up everything that's magical about photography for me; chancing upon tiny snippets in time that are fleetingly there and then gone, and being able to preserve them forever.

I felt so privileged to see these spectacular conditions on the windblown summit of Mam Tor. The afternoon mist swirled and billowed over Rushup Edge and Brown Knoll, rolling lazily down into the Edale Valley, clearing and regrouping and clearing again over the twisting road.

This is the pretty Derbyshire village of Bradbourne, looking perfect in its early autumn finery. It has the distinction of being one of only fifteen 'Doubly Thankful' villages in England, meaning that all the men from the village returned safely home after both world wars.

I have many favourite gates - doesn't everyone?! - but this one is a cracker, especially when the fields beyond are covered in mist. On this particular morning it looked like a gateway to another world, where the trees had become islands in a shallow sea of ever-shifting white.

This is a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has ever supported me, shared my posts, bought my products. And to everyone who chooses to buy from any - we know you could get cheaper, mass-produced items, but you keep our dreams alive when you shop small. 🧡

peaklass I've just bought a couple of calendars - amazingly quick service (they arrived today), with great communication on receipt of order and despatch, plus a lovely note included!
And the calendar is lovely too. Do support small businesses ☺️

There might be golden colours creeping into the hedgerows now, but I'm not ready to give up on summer that easily. Most of the trees are still in their green finery here, and long may it last. I so miss the colours when winter rushes in, so I'll treasure every leaf while I can.

Happy October! Surely one of the most beautiful months of the year? This lane is full of stunning brightness in late autumn, and it will be gracing your wall all month if you managed to snap up one of my 2023 Peak District calendars last year! Link in bio to the 2024 version. 😊

I'm a sucker for a misty autumn lane and that slightly eerie sense of not quite knowing what lies ahead. I hope, with the tiniest bit of imagination, you can smell this scene as much as see it, feel the damp air around you, and hear the quiet flutter of leaves falling.

A magical spot, where this old millstone rests below a spreading beech, catching falling leaves and light. This tree is a favourite of mine, so ungainly and haphazard, its spidery limbs stretching out as wide as its trunk is high, its roots in rocks more than soil.

This is Chrome Hill, perhaps the peakiest peak in the . It looks dramatic from every angle but I love this view of it dominating the landscape. And the rather lovely horse was a complete gift, giving me his best side and enjoying the scene as much as I was.

There's a certain satisfaction that comes from a weary feeling in your legs as you walk home after a long day, the sun setting over the hills ahead and lighting up the leaves. In the air I could smell woodsmoke and autumn, the only sounds the distant sheep and my own footsteps.
