Over the last 30 years this farm hasn’t seen any significant increase in wheat production while barley and canola has ⬆️ What would happen if we grew a 100 year old variety using modern growing techniques? Problems from 100 years ago have disappeared and new problems created 🤷🏻‍♂️

Why do people sing “it’s the most wonderful time of the year” around Christmas? At Christmas, everything’s dead. I reckon this is the most wonderful time of the year! 👌

Who else gets thirsty for beers when they start to think about all the beers they’re going to grow? 😎🍺 Just smashed this with some traces to keep her growing strong 💪 Just about ready for a graze I reckon.

My 6 YO old has an experiment growing on the kitchen windowsill. It’s wheat, and it’s growing at a rate of about 2cm a day. It’s 21cm high and still single leaf. Is it the warmth of inside, or the potting mix it’s growing in? I’ve never seen wheat so high with one leaf 🧐

Who has used propyzamide post on canola? 4 weeks post clethodim/tenet and ryegrass powering on. Suspect frost the day after application hasn’t helped. 😤 Apparently it’s risky, but so is ryegrass left in canola. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ll be honest, I’d prefer to see a bigger number here, but isn’t the best thing about being wealthy, being able to help brothers out when they’re down? I feel so much for Ukraine. I don’t like everything you do Albo, but today I’m proud of you.

Today, Victoria's first load of certified sustainable barley was delivered to the maltster from our farm. It was grown with a 77% reduction in c02 emissions compared to Australia’s average in cereal grain production. It's been a fun project to be a part of! ASP Certified

If you’ve ever wondered what wheat looked like 120 years ago…well it just looked like standard wheat. Here’s my hand sown federation trial plot, a variety first grown in Australia in 1903. Really interested to see how it performs!

As a non chemical, non tillage weed controll measure, I’m hoping the crimp roller will be a handy tool to have in the arsenal. We built ours pretty cheap with the help of some pre fab’d rollers from Agritrading

Yet another season of sweet looking crops in central Victoria. Feeling very thankful to God for this run of exceptional years. We’ve got a way to go before harvest I know, but it’s nice to have this potential! Old man’s still flabbergasted 😂 How’s your season looking?

Harvested my federation wheat plot today from 100 seeds. This is about half of it. Yet to thrash and weigh. It’s height was pretty cool 😎 Now, should I ask misso to make sourdough, or keep bulking up for a novelty 20ha patch?

We always clean wheat seed, by taking the smallest 10-15% out. What would happen if we took out 99% and only planted the biggest heaviest 1%? And continued to do this for 5 generations? Would we end up with a genetically superior wheat breed?

For the guys running optical sprayers, Bilberry or Weedit? I believe the green on green would have unbelievable advantages, but do cameras have the accuracy compared to sensors for green on brown? 🤷🏻‍♂️

As cropping starts to draw to a close, and it continues to stay dry, there’s lots more time for morning smokos, sometimes delivered to site. 👌

Every season is a little different. Same planting date, same variety, same soil type, same nutrition package, but last seasons looks a fair bit better on the same date.

In 38 years, things have changed so much on our farm. It’s mind boggling. I’m really glad someone worked out bigger balers and telehandlers! Wonder what we’ll see in the next generation!?
