Politicians at all levels of government are doing too little, too slowly, to rescue our broken city. Let's take action and save the city we love.

There are too many people on the streets of Portland today, either drug addicted, homeless or both, who have severe mental health problems, who belong in some type of institutional care facility. Time to fix state laws standing in the way. bit.ly/3WQPHR9

What is it about Multnomah County that despite piles and piles of tax dollars, they can’t seem to get their $#!^ together to get things done? bit.ly/3yQCuQt

Portland and Multnomah county’s failure to implement a basic camping ban is a welcome mat to California’s homeless. More mandatory shelter, required drug treatment and a camping ban all go hand in hand. bit.ly/3WQPLAn

Drugs and mental health are root causes of homelessness. Oregon ranks badly in both, yet most policymakers cling to housing first ideology rather that prioritizing drug and mental health care and treatment. bit.ly/3MfgPEH

Good news. Grassroots voices matter. Hundreds of you took action urging the sheriff to enforce the law. You are shifting the debate from ideology to accountability. Keep it up!! bit.ly/3SVE1LU

As government gets bigger at every level, elected officials in Oregon are abdicating their responsibility to hold the permanent bureaucracy they’ve created accountable for spending and policy. Special interests and non-profits call the shots. bit.ly/3AxxXTx

Progress is good. But let’s remember, this decrease is from a RECORD HIGH of several years of shootings and murders in Portland. Portland is still too dangerous and unpredictable. And still, there are 300-400 police officers, which is too few for a city our size.

Progress is long overdue. Those refusing shelter and address and mental health services remain the toughest challenge. Camping in public places cannot be a choice. bit.ly/4fO6DAy

Taxes going up, quality of life going down.... Of course people who can afford to leave, will leave. The question is do state and local politicians care? And will they do anything about it? bit.ly/4cEPy9j

Portland mayor Ted Wheeler says he won’t hesitate to direct police to arrest drug offenders if the county can't get the deflection center up and running by their new October deadline. “The public expects that we will enforce that law." KGW News kgw.com/article/news/l…

Multnomah county now has some of the highest taxes in the nation. For the first time in decades, people and businesses are leaving. Taxes up, quality of life down is not a recipe for success. koin.com/local/multco-b…

The walk back from the disaster of BM 110 will be long and difficult. Thousands of you taking action and making your voices heard with state lawmakers made an impact. koin.com/news/portland/…

“This is a dramatic statement and decision by the Banks’ leadership on their view of the state of Portland. One of the City’s largest businesses decamping to the suburbs is just another wake-up call to our elected leaders that something more must be done – we hope this is that

The disaster of Measure 110 will take years to fix. But Oregon’s new law is a step in the right direction, assuming local officials have the competence and will to implement it properly. koin.com/news/portland/…

Multnomah County Commissioners have starved public safety for many years. Cutting funding for jail beds, sheriff patrols and personnel. Good for the sheriff for finally telling voters and commissioners the truth. wweek.com/news/2024/09/0…
