There are still hundreds of refugees in offshore detention in Port Moresby & Nauru. We cannot pick & choose when to treat those who flee persecution with the compassion and dignity they deserve. Close the camps. Bring them here.

Today my thoughts are with all refugees and people seeking asylum in our community living in limbo, hoping and waiting for change. On TPV/SHEVs, with family in Afghanistan, in detention, trapped on PNG/Nauru +. It's time to reform our refugee policies and system. We must.

This letter is full of hatred and division. After suffering a decade in detention, they say resettlement in Australia is not an option for us. With a lot of restrictions and difficulties we're trying to build a life. I'd like to stay with people I love. Day 18

Letters like this create anxiety & distress, in a community that has little autonomy over their lives. Ppl being asked for their resettlement plan, with a deadline, when the Govt still doesn’t have a plan with sufficient resettlement opportunities for all, is distinctly cruel.
