Nothing like seeing blatant lies from City of Vancouver officials - where WERE those appeal forms today? Too busy planning ways to dispose of unhoused peoples' belongings, Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation to remember to bring them?
Solidarity with this resident! He is an incredible support system at camp, helping dozens of others daily.
Rather than allow CRAB to continue to be a self-managed hub of care, the City of Vancouver has decimated it.
Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation Amit Gandha, Director of Parks for the City of Vancouver, GENUINELY suggested that harm reduction supplies be KEPT in a garbage bin.
When asked earlier if they know what an OPS is, a Park Ranger at Crab Park said NO. Why are Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation PAID PUBLIC EMPLOYEES who have no idea WHAT they are destroying, continuing to destroy life-saving resources?
The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation staff have removed the gathering tent from the designated area of CRAB Park. It is an OPS, a living room, and a memorial for friends and family who have passed away. It is the height of cruelty to deny this shelter to residents.
From City of Vancouver an hour ago: 'if you don't like the way we micromanage and punish your unsheltered, criminalized life then leave.' This was always the goal.
