A pleasure to join islanders and guests from across the UK and Europe to celebrate #TynwaldDay, the National Day of the Isle of Man. Once a year the Island’s legislature meets for a traditional outdoor ceremony at St John’s, rather than its usual meeting place in Douglas.

Democracies across the globe are built on peaceful discourse and I am shocked at the attack on President Trump. Such acts have no place in democratic society and the thoughts of all @scotparl are with those affected.

Delighted to open this inspiring exhibition on the remarkable life and legacy of Eric Liddell, who won Olympic gold in July 1924.
