It's Thursday! It's 12:00! It's time for Ask a Librarian! What questions do you have for Matt and Kathleen today? #AskALibrarian #PWPLibraries

Matt: I am currently reading “Bloody Rose” by Nicholas Eames, “Schrader’s Chord” by Scott Leads, and “Between Two Fires” by Christopher Buehlman (which is this month’s Read by Dawn book club pick.) I am about to start “Slewfoot” by BROM, which is the Books on Tap book club @

Katie: I am currently reading "The Wedding Date" by Jasmine Guillory, which is this month's book for the New Romantics book club! #AskALibrarian

Katie: One of the things I love about book clubs is just getting a chance to gush about a book with other people. I feel like reading can sometimes be a very independent hobby, but book clubs allow a sense of community for people to come together. I picked “The Wedding Date” by

Matt: My favorite thing about book clubs is meeting new people and hearing different views during the discussion. I have met such a great group of people, both horror-fans and horror-curious – and we have had some great conversations about some great books! I love being able to

Matt: Yes, I’ve already mentioned “Between Two Fires” by Christopher Buehlman and “Slewfoot” by BROM, but I would also like to recommend “The Blade Itself” by Joe Abercrombie, “Mountain Fast” by S.J. Shank, “Kings of the Wyld” by Nicholas Eames, “The Blacktongue Thief” by

Katie: I am looking forward to the first meeting of the New Romantics book club on September 12 and the Women's Self Defense program on Saturday September 14, both of which are being hosted at the Haymarket Gainesville Library. #AskALibrarian

Matt: Aside from the upcoming Read by Dawn book club meeting and Dungeons & Dragons for Adults, I am really looking forward to two programs happening at Haymarket Gainesville Library this Saturday, 9/7. First, we are hosting the String Therapy Band for a concert in our community

Matt: The first book that comes to mind is "Dracul" by Dacre Stoker and J.D. Barker, which is a prequel to Dracula. I guess that I didn't think that I would hate it, but I didn't expect it to be a good as it was. Dracul is the perfect lead into one of my favorite books of all

Katie: "The Crossroads at Midnight" by Abby Howard. It is a graphic novel collection of horror short stories, which is a genre I don't normally pick up. Because of that, I had lower expectations for it, but it was amazing. The illustrations only enhanced the horror and spookiness

Matt: I tend to lean on the Sci-Fi side of this question, so I'll recommend "A Big Ship at the Edge of the Universe" by Alex White, "Exhalation" by Ted Chiang, "Revelation Space" by Alastair Reynolds, and "Sleeping Giants" by Sylvain Neuvel. Also check out anything by Larry Niven

Katie: I would recommend "Project Hail Mary" by Andy Weir. It is definitely more Sci-Fi, but it focuses on a character who is the only survivor on a last chance mission to save Earth in space. #AskALibrarian
