Brown patch associated with the start of some small patches on tall fescue has arrived at the Daniel Turf Center. Along with it, anthracnose on our yet untreated bentgrass putting green. More details to follow but it’s game on 3 weeks ahead of schedule.

I have received a number of pictures of Fall Armyworm egg masses over the past couple of weeks. Be sure to follow the weekly trap counts of FAW by subscribing to KY Pest News kentuckypestnews.wordpress.com/2024/07/30/202… So far no reports of damage to turfgrass.

Pay attention to this hot take! Like these eggs in hot sauce, cool season grasses don’t have legs to stand on in late summer. Lawns may best look forward to investing in recovery when fall arrives. Golf, sports fields and low mown turf will need to protect the house.
