Today, nearly 60,000 children in just five countries across Central Asia are separated from their families and growing up in residential facilities. However, it’s stories like this one from Kazakhstan that gives me hope for a future where every child has a loving home.

Humanitarian workers risk their lives to support children in conflict, but they face increasing attacks in violation of international law. On #WorldHumanitarianDay, I join UNICEF in calling on leaders to #ActForHumanity. Protect humanitarians so they can protect children.

Children deserve safe streets to play and safe homes to sleep, but today in Ukraine, children started their last week of summer break hiding underground. I am pained by the reports of a five-month-old being injured in these attacks. No child is safe. Children need peace now.

Access to safe water is every child’s right. Yet, conflicts continue to target water resources, putting children's lives at risk. Let’s work together to ensure that every child has access to safe water. #WWWeek unicef.org/eca/stories/we…

Horrifying reports of a 14-year-old killed and children among those injured in an attack in #Kharkiv today. Our deepest condolences to their families and loved ones. The killing and maiming of children is unacceptable. Children must always be protected. Attacks must stop.

As the new school year begins, children in Ukraine continue to endure the horrors of war, with intensified attacks last week leading to tragic casualties. For 30 months now, this war has been robbing the children of Ukraine of their education and future. When will it stop?

Children continue to pay with their lives and their futures from the impacts of conflicts, climate change, poverty and discrimination. The world needs to do better to ensure that the rights of children are respected. My remarks at today’s UNICEF_Board unicef.org/press-releases…

More attacks, more devastating reports of children's casualties. Children in Ukraine should be learning in safe classrooms, playing in safe streets and sleeping under clear skies. We continue to call for their protection and the civilian infrastructure they depend on.

In just five countries in Central Asia, over 60,000 children live in institutional care. As part of our commitment to change that, my colleagues from UNICEF Europe C.Asia are in Uzbekistan this week with partners and leaders to influence decisions that can help keep families together.
