This year's #NAIDOCWeek theme "Blak, Loud and Proud" calls for healing-informed, Indigenous-focused policies to address the ongoing impacts of racism, stigma, trauma, violence and colonisation. These calls build on over a decade of Indigenous activism, including from veterans.

It was a privilege to play even a small part in sharing Uncle Jack's story as part of #NAIDOCWeek, and such a pleasure to get to know his descendants and hear more about their family history.

Fromelles has been on my mind a lot this week, particularly in relation to Lieutenant Harry Moffit and his beloved Sister Alice Ross-King. Alice's diary tracks their relationship from its beginning on a troopship to its tragic end with Harry's death. awm.gov.au/collection/C20…

Some beautiful (if slightly disconcerting) illustrations from the 2nd Pioneer Battalion's 1918 Unit Diaries. You never know quite what you're going to find when you open these files...

I just reached the milestone of 300 Last Post Ceremonies written. Such a rewarding part of my role at Aust War Memorial. All are touching in their own ways, but the poem I found for 23 y/o 2nd Lieutenant Seawood Keay really shows the heartache of war and the hope of "never again".

And it's out in the world! Thank you to HistAustJournal and all the colleagues who helped me develop this from some humble MPhil research (that didn't make the final thesis) into an open access article I'm so proud of! tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…

Another great session with three amazing historians providing great insight into the tactics and lived experiences of the Frontier Wars in and beyond Wiradyuri Country.

What an amazing few days on Wiradyuri Country marking the bicentenary of the declaration of martial law and Wiradyuri resistance and survival! Including a surprise trip up the War Memorial Carillon yesterday, and a stop at the artists' market this morning. #dhuluny

It's been a stressful week (month), so what better end to a Friday than taking in the Canberra sun and getting a headstart on some research for next week?

I don't often get the opportunity to write the stories of women who died in wars. Edie's story will be my third in a fortnight. How fortunate I've had such a beautifully-written account of her war service to guide my research for her story.

Never fails to evoke a giggle writing about Batman challenging the Crown's right to control the acquisition of land in colonial Australia in the 1830s...

So excited to be presenting as part of Veterans Studies Association's fall colloquia series on my research into Indigenous Second World War service through ephemera from the Aust War Memorial's collection. Come along if you can! #SWW #Indigenoushistories #WeHaveWays
