Honoured to have attended the 1st Black Healthcare Awards thia weekend, organised by the Caribbean & African Healthcare Network. Black NHS professionals make an immense contribution to the health & care of the UK & it was inspirational to meet so many staff going above & beyond.

Seeing & hearing the news that fellow Filipino nurses were targeted in yesterday’s riots is truly heartbreaking. Filipinos nurses are here, dedicated to helping the NHS & UK healthcare system. This violence and racism must end. We deserve respect & protection, not hostility!

Today, we learned the statue of Mary Seacole in London was vandalised in a racist act. Our General Secretary and Chief Executive Professor Nicola Ranger condemns this act of vandalism and vows to support the statue’s restoration.
