I’m British Heart Foundation Alumni Voices event in Edinburgh tonight. Professor Joanna Laidlaw CBE is sharing her story, research and career, with Prof James Leiper.
It was amazing to join with colleagues across the private, public and third sectors to celebrate 50 years of ASH Scotland. The charity has made had an undeniably positive impact on Scotland and the health of people living here, and I am honoured to play a small part in that.

1/3 This morning we are launching a report alongside Diffley Partnership which explores public attitudes to the harms caused by alcohol, tobacco and unhealthy food and drink.
2/3 The project worked with a representative sample of the Scottish public to discuss the commercial determinants of health. Defined by World Health Organization (WHO) as “private sector activities that affect people’s health”
The event is being opened by David McColgan chair of NCD Alliance Scotland, who is giving the background to the Alliance and why we commissioned this research.
