Today, we’re introducing a new model that eliminates accept/reject decisions.

By publishing every paper with eLife reviews as a Reviewed Preprint, we plan to restore autonomy to authors, ensuring that they will be judged by what, not where, they publish. elifesciences.org/inside-elife/5…

We need a cognitive science of scholarship, starting with the recognition that attention is limited: you can't read everything. Historically, we have had journals that function as an attentional filter.

By associating journal name with quality, the current system distorts science and slows down progress/careers. We need a system where name signifies quality of *assessment* not the science.
