The same street in Manchester, one hundred years apart. The private motor vehicle is an invasive species, which gradually crowds out and suffocates the rich social life of our cities. When cars don’t dominate the streets, life flourishes.

Perhaps Steve Race - Exeter’s MP 💙💛 will be now be able to stop Cllr Phil Bialyk and Exeter City Council from being so damn lilly livered and build a cycling & walking network suitable for people in our fantastic city. theguardian.com/politics/artic…

With seven months completed, we now consider it very likely (96% chance) that 2024 will surpass 2023 and become the warmest year in the instrumental history of global average temperatures. 7/

Looking forward to Massive Attack on Sunday Impressed with how they're reducing carbon emissions: Battery-powered stages, not diesel generators Strong encouragement for audience to travel by train not car - guest bar for rail travellers, extra trains, etc Plant-based catering

Also, they've been taking Met Office advice on the weather during the build of the event site - challenging safety issue these last few days due to wind, as it's in an exposed location on the Downs above the Avon Gorge. Impressed that their team have thought of all these things!

101 degrees Fahrenheit in South Australia, the highest 'wintertime' temperature ever recorded there (crushing the old record by more than three degrees)

Met Office Absolute triumph by Massive Attack and team last night! A stunning show - all the big songs, with amazing sound quality, iconic collaborators and fab support acts The low-carbon measures seemed to go very well 👍 As forecast, the wind was not an issue (unlike Leeds festival)
