It is such a privilege to have the opportunity to contribute to Curlew conservation using such technology. A wonderful project and a great team. πŸ˜€

I'm still learning how to identify birds from their song, so I was delighted to correctly pick up a Crossbill and then find it sitting in the top of a beech tree.

Another in the run of grey wet days here in South Somerset. However, that does allow for something a bit different when out in the Orchid meadows. Such as this image.

Many thanks to all those who contributed to what this bird noise was.

It appears that options are narrowed down to Water Rail or Roe Deer Fawn. Either of these would be a possibility but I might go with the Fawn given that the woodland site with a distant small stream.

Help please.πŸ™‚

Can someone identify the bird, maybe alarm, call in this brief video. It is the single repeated sharp call that I'm interested in, rather than the woodland birds like the chiffchaff. Many thanks, Robin.

Stonechat chasing one the many flying insects on a lovey sunny day on Dartmoor last weekend. Seems to have reverted to low cloud, drizzle and grey this weekend.

One of the many Wheatear to be found on Dartmoor now, however, this was the first time that I have heard one singing. πŸ˜€

Good morning all. Cold and wet in Taunton this Saturday morning and the four πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯ are growing rapidly. The smaller Tiercel (male) is finding it harder to cover them, so the Falcon (female) seems keen to get back over the chicks following a short break from them. πŸ˜€

Very interesting observation from Taunton this evening as it appears something landed on the roof of the nest scrape. The falcon is alerted but not worried enough to leave the chicks. Second video with sound. Sadly camera zoomed in at the time so roof not visible at the time.

Made the short trip to Wild East Devon today. What a beautiful reserve with a stunning carpet of garlic plus the bluebells, stitchwort, red campion, celandine, orchids and ferns. Just cannot believe it was our first visit but there will be others. πŸ˜€
