Another lovely experience teaching and interacting with colleagues last week at IrcadFrance in Strasbourg. Second European #SP tour concluding and as always, I am leaving with more insight into what we do and how we do it than I brought. Cross pollination of ideas so valuable!

It was a privilege to participate in the SP Symposium for residents and fellows at Hackensack Meridian this weekend. Heartening to see such enthusiasm from the next generation of urologic surgeons about #SP. Very high yield event - trainees should keep this on your radar for 2025!

Fun day today helping one of my long term mentors and friends (Dov Kadmon) start his #SP journey with a transvesical simple prostatectomy. After many years of taking pearls of prostate surgery wisdom from him, a chance to give back. What a nice reconstruction! ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

A few wonderful (if warm) days in Tokyo with family before heading to Seoul for #wcet24. Looking forward to connecting with old and new friends in a new city (for me). #uromigos

Are you a "transperitoneal curmudgeon" like I was? Join me tomorrow morning at the #WCET24 Society of Urologic Robotic Surgeons (SURS) session to talk about the advantages of regionalized robotic kidney surgery with Xi and SP. If I can do it, you can do it!

#SP in the โ€œeasy buttonโ€ for regionalized surgery. We all learned that from the godfather of single port robotics: Dr. J. Kaouk.

Beautiful video review of salvage prostatectomy technique after HIFU by John W. Davis, MD at #WCET24 Society of Urologic Robotic Surgeons (SURS). Great pearl about posterior mobilization to find untreated tissue planes. Slick off-hand SynchroSeal technique. Might have to revisit that instrument. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Wonderful event supporting a spirit of open collaboration between American, Korean and Japanese #SP surgeons. As always, I left with more insight than I brought with me. #WCET24

Thanks for the nice written coverage, UroToday.com. It was a fun topic to present and the Society of Urologic Robotic Surgeons (SURS) section meeting was fantastically organized by Craig Rogers MD et al. Nice example of stone likely in an anterior caliceal diverticulum. An attempt at RIRS seems reasonable especially given that the stone seems like a mass of small fragments. For anterior diverticuli, I favor robotic diverticulectomy for definitive management rather than PCNL.

As clearly shown by Dr. Wissam Kamal, supine mini pcnl - a versatile tool for addressing anterior caliceal diverticular stones. These can also be quick outpatient #SP retro cases using low anterior access in thin patients, although not available everywhere. Lots of options.
